Question – I purchased my SOLIDWORKS license from another supplier, can I renew with SOLIDX?
Answer– Yes. Your perpetual license is registered to your company. You can select any UK supplier to take on the subscription for your software.
We advise that you only entertain changing suppliers at the point your existing contract is due for renewal, as this ensures you will not overlap and pay more than required.
Question – What happens if I decide not to renew my licenses
Answer – Perpetual licenses never stop working, so if you chose not to renew some or all of them, they will continue to function.
However, there will be some drawback to consider;
- You will lose access to technical support from your provider
- You will lose access to subscription only benefits such as Visualize Standard, SOLIDWORKS CAM, Certifications & the enhance my.SOLIDWORKS Standard user account
- You will no longer receive the latest updates and new functionality
- As time goes on, you may suffer performance issues, as your software is no longer compatible with the latest hardware and operating systems

Question – Do I have to renew all my licenses?
Answer – No. Just renew as many as you need. You can always reinstate extra licenses at a later stage. To learn more about reinstating an expired license, see our Renew Expired Licenses page
Question – Would you need our existing solidworks serial numbers and would these change?
Answer – Yes – We need to see your serial numbers, to add them to an Account Change Request form, that you then sign. But they won’t change.
Question – How would the transition of supplier occur?
Answer – The transition of supplier is seamless. A bit like changing energy suppliers. You sign a form to authorise us to move your licenses over and then the change is managed in the background with no input or interruption from your users. Your serial numbers never change and you have no interruption to your access to SOLIDWORKS.
Question – I’m not sure of I’ve got the right level of package for my needs. What can I do?
Answer – You can alter your SOLIDWORKS package when renewing your subscription. For example, you can downgrade to a lower level and reduce the investment, or pay to upgrade to a higher level, for the remaining maintenance period. The team at SOLIDX will give you guidance on all the options
Question – I work with other companies on different releases of the software. If I renew, can I still work in a version that suites them?
Answer – Yes. When you’re on active subscription, you have the ability to install at the latest version, as well as any earlier version. So you control which version you use, to maintain full interoperability with your suppliers & customers.
Question – Will my current hardware support the latest release of SOLIDWORKS?
Answer – For this, we recommend you visit the SOLIDWORKS Hardware guide HERE, or call the team @ SOLIDX and we will quickly assess your hardware suitability and advise of changes if needed
Question – I’m interested in moving to a rental model for my SOLIDWORKS licenses, can you provide this?
Answer – Yes, all SOLIDWORKS software is available as rental licenses. To see rental pricing, visit our Pricing Page, and search for the licenses you need.
