How to gain access to a SOLIDWORKS training manual eBook

When attending a Certified SOLIDWORKS training course, you’ll be issued with a copy of the training manual associated with the course. This serves as guide throughout the training and also a good reference once the training has finished. You may prefer to access this digitally, especially if you are doing a virtual training course. Follow on below to find out how to access your SOLIDWORKS eBooks in a few different ways.

On the first page of the training manual, you’ll see a QR code, a serial number and a link to access the eBook version of the manual (http://my.solidworks.com/ebook/getebook)

To gain access to the eBook you’ll need to go through a couple of steps. Firstly, you’ll need a 3DEXPERIENCE ID, secondly, you’ll need an email from swebooks@dsgraphics.com which you will get after you have registered the manual. You can view the manual through a web browser or download the eBook locally. Let’s review both steps and look at both viewing options below, however, if you already have a 3DEXPERIENCE you can skip forward to ‘Registering an eBook’

Registering a 3DEXPERIENCE Account

The eBooks need to be linked and registered to you, so you will need a 3DEXPERIENCE ID.

To create a 3DEXPERIENCE account, go to https://my.solidworks.com and select ‘Log in’ in the top right hand corner of the screen

then select ‘Create your account’

Then fill out your details and click ‘register’

That should be your 3DEXPERIENCE account setup!

Registering an eBook

After logging in to https://my.solidworks.com , select ‘Training’ and then ‘Training Manuals’ from the top menus. You could also use the link provided in the training manuals to navigate to the page directly https://my.solidworks.com/ebook/getebook

Fill out the details at the top of the page, ensuring the serial number is entered correctly (it is quite long!), and then press ‘Access Secure eBook’

This process assigns the ebook access to you and will generate an email confirmation from swebooks@dsgraphics.com.

Accessing the SOLIDWORKS eBook

Once you have recieved the email confirming your eBook/s are now available, you will have the option to either open the eBook in a desktop viewer or use a webviewer.

  • The desktop viewer is ideal when you need to access the eBook from one PC and don’t need to view it on a different one
  • The webviewer is better for flexibility, as it allows access across several PCs. However, this requries email authentication every time you login.

Using the Desktop Viewer (LockLizard)

Firstly, let’s go through how to install the desktop viewer – LockLizard.

To install the desktop viewer, select the link which matches your operating system i.e Windows

This will open a the LockLizard secure PDF viewer page – click ‘Download’

Important: You will need administrator permissions on your machine to install the software. Please contact your IT team assist if required.

The LockLizard Safeguard PDF viewer will open – Select ‘Next’ and then agree to the terms and conditions.

Choose the ‘Complete’ installation type, click ‘Next’ and then ‘Install’

Once the desktop viewer has been installed, return to the original email and scroll down to the ‘License’ section.

Click ‘license’ and open the downlaoded .llv file. After opening you will see a ‘Registration successful’ pop-up appear on-screen. Press ‘Ok’

Finally, after registering, you can download the eBook for use in the desktop viewer. You can access the download from the same email under the ‘Documents’ section

After selecting on the download link, the LockLizard desktop viewer will open and your eBook training manual will be available.

Using the WebViewer

The email from swebooks@dsgraphics.com has an optional webviewer you can use to access the eBook. Underneath the ‘(Optional) Web Viewer’ section, click on ‘here’

Note: Make sure you read the bullet point restrictions to avoid any issues when using the webviewer.

After clicking ‘here’ a web page will be opened and you will be re-directed to https://webviewer.dsgsafe.com/user/login where it will ask for an email and password. If this is your first time logging in, you will need to create a password. Do this by selecting the ‘Forgot pasword’ link

Enter your email and the Capthca, then click ‘Submit’ – You will then be sent a verification email with a code. Enter the code and create a new password.

Once you have created your password, return to the login page, enter your email and password and click ‘Submit’ to login.

Note: You will be sent a confirmation email linked to the account each time you login.

After filling in the confirmation details, you’ll be logged in to the eBook webviewer. From here you can select the eBook you wish to view (if you have multiple eBooks linked to your account) and it will open in another tab.
